It says that the International Buddhist Monk Exchange Program 2022
has been launched with aiming to raise mutual understanding between Buddhist countries and their traditions.
Accordingly, it is also mentioned another phase of this year's Pali and Sanskrit International Monk Exchange Program will be held over a month in India since December 21st.
However, one might wonder why we bring today this Buddhist news from the gossip column.
Actually, this is the reason
Invitations are extended to such programs to join and participate as representatives of Sri Lanka.
So, it says the chief guest for the first meeting of the Bhikkhu Exchange Program to be held in India on the coming 7th was one of our greatest monks somewhere from Asgiriya and the decision and date were also made about a month ago.
So, we have heard that this great monk had reserved the date for this in his diary.
The thing is, that the organizers received a last-minute message couple of days ago saying this great monk would not be able to attend this program.
It says that the reason for this absence was the unavailability of this great monk’s secretary monk.
Those around say that, although the great monk holds the position, it is his nephew, the secretary monk, who makes the decisions.
It seems that the kinship is a rooted program in our country.
In some cases, among those who governed Sri Lanka, the private secretaries had more decision-making power than the President, the Prime Minister, or the Minister sometimes.
We have to make up our mind that this one won't be like that either.
Anyway, the gossip columnists heard that there was more to it than that.
It is said that this great monk returned from a mission trip to China about two weeks ago.
Some says that this Chinese issue has also influenced this, as has the Secretary monk’s incident.
However, we heard that no representative was named in response to the invitation to Sri Lanka for this monk exchange program.
China is also stuck wherever they go. The program is in India also.
So, China is a country with a lot of money. Isn’t it?
It's not about religion, it's about what's needed, isn’t it?
The Chinese, who do not promote Buddhism within their domain, have a great love for the Buddhism in Sri Lanka. So much so that they make great charities to our great monks. We don't know, so that's what the common says.
However, Comrade Mao Zedong said that 'religion is poison'.
